Introduction to Machine Elements and Mechanical Design. Fundamentals of strength of materials and failure analysis under static loads and fatigue. Shafts and axles (strength calculations under static and dynamic loading, preliminary dimensioning, maximum rotational speed). Standardization and calculations of bolted joints, as well as basic calculations for welded and other types of connections. Power and motion transmission. Gears (spur, helical, bevel, planetary systems, and worm gear systems). Belts and chain drives. Calculation and selection of rolling bearings.
